Iceland – Winter 2015

In February of 2015, I finally got to live out one of my life long goals — photograph in Iceland.  Although it had never been my intention to travel there during the winter months, when the opportunity presented itself, I could not look the other way.

I arrived early in the morning and set out immediately.  Photographically speaking, the countryside is prone to bouts of minimalism — especially when ice and snow cover most of the landscape — so I was right at home.  I stuck to the southern coast mostly, towards Vik, and avoided the “big” cities while staying in small country motels and inns.  Storms came and went throughout my short 10 day period on the island, and the light was prodigious (plus I am not a morning person, so waiting for sunrise around 10:00 AM was a bit of blessing).  There was never a dull moment, including a little a car trouble along the way.
